About The Position

Join a collaborative and fast-paced General Surgery/Trauma Practice that provides comprehensive outpatient care for surgical and trauma patients across the continuum. Our team partners closely with surgeons, advanced practitioners, nurses, and support staff to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care focused on clinical excellence, care coordination, patient education, and positive outcomes. Baystate Health is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our General Surgery/Trauma practice team. This ambulatory nursing role provides direct patient care, telephone triage, patient education, care coordination, and clinical support for trauma and surgical patients across the continuum of care. The RN works collaboratively with providers, clinical staff, patients, and families to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while supporting safety, efficiency, and positive patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Current Massachusetts RN license required
  • BLS CPR certification required
  • Diploma in Nursing
  • Strong triage, assessment, communication, and care coordination skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care and teamwork

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 2 years of RN experience preferred
  • Previous experience in trauma, surgery, Med-Surg, ambulatory care, OR, PACU, or related specialty preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care
  • Provide telephone triage and clinical support for trauma and general surgery patients
  • Administer and monitor therapeutic interventions and treatments
  • Coordinate care with providers and interdisciplinary team members
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, procedures, medications, and follow-up care
  • Support transitions of care and identify barriers impacting patient outcomes
  • Promote patient safety and participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Mentor and support new staff, nursing students, and team members as appropriate
  • Maintain clinical competencies and compliance with regulatory standards
