About The Position

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the Burn Trauma/Vascular ICU. This is a temporary, full-time, 14-week assignment for the day shift. The unit is a 16-bed facility that handles Kidney/Pancreas Transplants, complex vascular surgeries, and general surgical patients requiring ICU care. Responsibilities include managing patients on mechanical ventilation, CRRT, and hemodialysis. Vascular procedures managed include lower extremity revascularization, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repair, Mesenteric Artery Repair, EVAR, TEVAR, lower extremity bypass, Carotid Endarterectomy and Carotid Stent, EKOS treatment for DVTs, and medical management of AAAs and dissections. The general patient population served includes adult medical and surgical patients requiring intensive nursing care, with an average length of stay of 2-3 days, though complex patients may stay longer than 30 days.

Requirements

  • Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or diploma in the Nursing Field.
  • Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • ACLS.
  • NIH Stroke Scale.
  • Two or more years of current acute care hospital RN experience.

Responsibilities

  • Management of patients requiring mechanical ventilation.
  • Management of patients requiring CRRT and hemo-dialysis.
  • Management of patients undergoing Kidney/Pancreas Transplants.
  • Management of patients undergoing complex vascular surgeries.
  • Care for general surgical patients requiring ICU.
  • Care for vascular patients including lower extremity revascularization, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repair, Mesenteric Artery Repair, EVAR, TEVAR, lower extremity bypass, Carotid Endarterectomy and Carotid Stent, EKOS- treatment for DVTs, and medical management of AAA’s and dissections.
