About The Position

The West Virginia Department of Health Facilities is NOW HIRING dedicated Full-Time Registered Nurses for our State Facility Travel Program! This role offers a competitive hourly rate, benefits, and shift differential, with the potential for a permanent position. As a Travel Program RN, you will provide high-quality nursing care, assist with planning and evaluations, and support day-to-day clinical functions. The initial assignment is at William R. Sharpe Jr. Hospital in Weston, WV, for up to 12 months, with the possibility of applying for a permanent role at any time. Successful candidates must pass a criminal background check and drug screening. Travel may be required.

Requirements

  • Current West Virginia license or temporary permit to practice as a registered nurse.

Responsibilities

  • Administer top-quality nursing care to patients and residents, ensuring the highest standards of practice.
  • Conduct intake assessments, administer first aid and medications, and perform health screenings.
  • Assist in developing and evaluating individualized care plans, tailored to the unique needs of each patient.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date health records for all patients, documenting changes in their condition and treatments provided.
  • Work closely with physicians, supervisors, and other healthcare staff to coordinate and implement effective patient care.
  • May provide guidance and direction to LPNs, CNAs, and other staff members.
  • Participate in the orientation and training of new staff.
  • Enter patient information into various electronic systems, ensure adherence to healthcare policies and regulations, and communicate urgent medical needs to relevant personnel.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare providers, ensuring clear communication and understanding of patient care plans.
