The Registered Nurse requires substantial specialized knowledge, judgement and nursing skills based upon the principles of psychological, biological, physical, and social sciences in the application of the nursing process in the respective departments in which assigned. The RN must collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; provide physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families; supervising assigned team members and students. This specific role is for an RN Circulator working Monday-Friday from 7:15 am to 3:45 pm, with call duties. The role involves completing patient assessments, formulating and overseeing the implementation of care plans, and evaluating/adjusting them using critical thinking. It also includes performing other nursing acts authorized by the board, providing care, counseling, and health teaching using the Teach Back methodology, administering medications and treatments as prescribed, and supervising/delegating tasks to other personnel. The RN will mentor and precept students and new staff, report pertinent information up the chain of command, and participate in teams, committees, and performance improvement initiatives. Ensuring a safe environment, participating in discharge planning and transition of care, serving as a patient advocate, and timely documentation are also key responsibilities. The nurse will assist patients with daily living activities, assume responsibility for professional development, utilize effective communication and active listening skills, exhibit a compassionate and empathetic attitude, practice Hands Off communication using SBAR, and perform Bedside Shift reporting. The role requires functioning as a positive influence, role model, and adhering to the professional code of conduct, respecting patient dignity and confidentiality. The position also includes specific duties related to the surgical department, such as instructing the surgical team on procedures, preparing the operating room and equipment, preparing the patient for surgery, accompanying the patient to the recovery room, monitoring operative procedures, functioning as a team member within the surgical department, and maintaining a safe work environment. Successful completion of a training program and demonstrated competence in circulating nurse duties is required, along with orientation to unit policies, procedures, equipment, safety, infection control, and performance improvement activities.
