About The Position

Legacy Behavioral Health is hiring individuals with a passion for making a difference in their community! We are seeking a Registered Nurse to work in our Behavioral Health Crisis Center (BHCC) in Valdosta Georgia. The Registered Nurse will be clinically competent while delivering care to consumers utilizing the nursing processes of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation. RNs will effectively interact with consumers, significant others and other health team members while maintaining all standards of professional nursing. The Registered Nurse promotes the physical and mental health of consumers by applying the nursing processes. The position is a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and has the goal of assisting consumers to assume responsibility for their own health. The position coordinates and monitors medical care, including psychiatric and medication services in accord with the requirements of regulatory agencies and in response to individual consumer needs. Under the supervision of the Behavioral Health Crisis Center (BHCC) director and/or the BHCC nursing manager, the Charge Nurse coordinates and supervises the patient care team on an assigned shift. The Charge Nurse (CN) is responsible for: the daily operation of assigned units, the supervision and assignment of all members of the patient care team. The Charge Nurse assesses the general needs of the unit related to patient severity and staffing and coordinates with the BHCC director and nursing manager. The Charge Nurse collaborates with nursing leadership to participate in quality improvement, assists with the evaluation of educational opportunities and provides hands-on training in patient care. The Charge Nurse is responsible for fulfilling all job duties, but not performing them daily, as described in their respective unit's Registered Nurse job description, when required by patient or unit needs, as well as those listed in this job description. As well as all other functions assigned to them.

Requirements

  • Must have a current Georgia RN license.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in psychiatric nursing.
  • 1 year of experience in a leadership position in nursing.
  • Must be CPR and First Aid certified or to obtain certification.
  • Must be physically able to perform CPR.
  • Must be proficient in verbal and written communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
  • Must be able to identify and report any adverse side effects of medication to the physician.
  • Must have excellent time management and critical thinking skills.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to balance administrative tasks and clinical care.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate and lead nursing staff.
  • Knowledge and experience to answer staff and patient questions.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to quickly and accurately assess patient conditions.

  • Knowledge of procedures, including development, implementation, and review of the care plan.
  • Knowledge of nursing policies, procedures, protocols, treatments, standards of care, and nursing practice.
  • Full knowledge of medication administration, medication dispensing, and EMAR procedures.
  • Knowledge of Crisis Service Center (CSC) operations and functions.
  • Able to work in the CSC in the absence of the RN Admissions Coordinator.

  • Coordinate staffing positions in case of phone calls, staff shortages, or to meet consumer needs and acuity.
