Requirements

Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) - Within 60 days of hire or transfer
Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing

Responsibilities

Utilizes the ANA Nursing Process (2010) to perform comprehensive data collection pertinent to the Healthcare consumer’s health and/or the situation.
Analyzes assessment data to determine the diagnosis or issues.
Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the Healthcare consumer or situation.
Develops a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes.
Implements the identified plan and ensures patient progression along the plan.
Coordinates care delivery.
Employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment.
Evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes.
Follows the ANA Standards of Professional Performance (2010), including enhancing nursing practice quality and effectiveness, attaining knowledge and competency, evaluating practice against standards, interacting with and contributing to the professional development of peers, collaborating with patients and families, integrating ethical provisions, integrating research findings, and considering factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact on practice.
Provides leadership in the professional practice setting and the profession.
Practices in an environmentally safe and healthy manner.
Supports the purpose, vision, and values of Monument Health.
Practices within the legal scope of a Registered Professional Nurse as outlined by the state and delivers competent care consistent with standards, policies, laws, regulators, and accreditation/certifying organizations.
Abides by the Provisions of the Code of Ethics for Nurses (ANA 2010).
Proficiently uses applicable technology and software to support and document nursing activities and patient care, and access other work-related applications.
