Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.
  • Must hold Certified in American Heart Association’s Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).

Nice To Haves

  • BSN degree
  • Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).
  • One (1) year of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) in Family Centered Care/Maternal Infant Unit/Neonatal Intensive Care
  • Additional Life Support credential (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) or other clinical specialty certifications in specific units.
  • Visual color acuity depending on the role in specific units.

Responsibilities

  • Independently plans and provides professional nursing care to patients in accordance with physician orders and established guidelines.
  • Practices professional nursing in accordance with the scope of practice as defined by the Georgia Nurse Practice Act.
  • Utilizes the American Nurses Association's (ANA) Nursing: Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice, 3rd Edition (2015), which defines nursing as 'the protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, facilitation of healing, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy in the care of individuals, families, groups, communities, and populations.'
  • Practices professional nursing at Northside Hospital, which incorporates ANA's Scope and Standards of Professional Practice and Professional Performance, two additional components of clinical practice, and classifies all elements into five domains: Clinical Knowledge and Practice, Professional Practice, Leadership, Professional Development, and Evidence-Based Practice, Quality and Research.
  • Manages the care of an assigned group of patients in accordance with the philosophy and policies of the nursing division, to include the Northside Nursing Collaborative Care Model.
  • Reflects the values of collaboration, communication, coordination, integration, and empowerment in the practice of all professional nurses at Northside Hospital.
  • Works within a sequential progression from a novice nurse to an expert, implying possession of knowledge, skills, competencies, and critical thinking abilities of all prior (lower) levels.
