About The Position

The Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurse at Southside Medical Center delivers exceptional nursing care to acute and critical patients who require intensive medical care. The role involves assessing patient status, prioritizing patient problems and needs, implementing clinical nursing interventions, and developing and carrying out care plans to improve outcomes. The nurse also helps ensure a safe and therapeutic environment and collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team.

This position participates in an on-call system for emergency and urgent procedures on weekends, nights, and holidays. Nurses must be able to respond to STEMI call backs in less than 30 minutes. The schedule is listed as 36 scheduled weekly hours, with all work shifts.

Requirements

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• At least one year of RN experience in telemetry, critical care, cardiac cath lab, emergency room, or operating room.
• BLS Basic Life Support or ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained from an approved source before providing direct patient care.
• ACLS certification is required within six months of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred, not required).
• BLS or ACLS certification at hire (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.
• Conduct and analyze initial and ongoing patient assessments; create and implement plans of care; and evaluate treatment effectiveness.
• Synthesize and prioritize information to take immediate, decisive, evidence-based, patient-focused action using clinical judgment and inquiry.
• Anticipate and respond confidently to rapidly changing patient conditions.
• Participate in the on-call system for emergency and urgent procedures on weekends, nights, and holidays.
• Respond to STEMI call backs in less than 30 minutes.
• Administer medications safely in accordance with state practice requirements and organizational policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
