This fast-paced 26-bed post-operative orthopedic and neurological unit provides specialized care for patients recovering from total joint replacements, orthopedic procedures, and neurosurgical surgeries. The unit experiences high patient turnover due to short-stay, 24-hour post-operative recovery holds prior to discharge home or transfer to rehabilitation facilities. The care team prioritizes strong post-surgical assessment, pain management, neurovascular monitoring, and early mobility—particularly for joint replacement patients—to promote recovery and prevent complications. Nurses collaborate closely with physical therapy, occupational therapy, and the interdisciplinary care team to support safe mobilization and optimal patient outcomes. The Registered Nurse (RN) provides patient-centered care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This role is responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality care based on established clinical protocols and physician/provider orders. The RN collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient care and desired outcomes, while maintaining a supportive and compassionate environment for patients and their families.
