About The Position

Banyan Treatment Centers is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our nursing team on a per-diem basis at our facility in Waelder, TX. Practice across the full continuum of SUD care — from detox through outpatient levels of care at a facility ASAM-certified at Levels 3.5 and 3.7 Work within a right-sized, 40 + bed facility where you can build genuine relationships with patients and colleagues, not get lost in a large or impersonal system. Work per-diem, as-needed shifts — flexibility to pick up work around your schedule while still doing meaningful clinical work. Keep your license current with CEUs that count toward re-licensure and CPR training provided at no cost to you. Grow professionally in SUD nursing, building skills in assessment, crisis intervention, and collaborative treatment planning. Bring your whole background to the work — whether you come from acute care, detox, or medical-surgical nursing, or bring lived experience with recovery, it's valued here (though not required). Requirements

Active RN license in Texas
Nursing degree/diploma from an accredited school of nursing
Strong assessment and organizational skills
Detail-oriented with excellent communication abilities
Ability to maintain objectivity and empathy in patient interactions
Adherence to the Healthcare Code of Ethics
Knowledge of state and federal confidentiality regulations

Nice To Haves

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Experience in substance use disorder treatment, acute care, ICU, ED, or detox settings
Familiarity with KIPU EMR system
Personal or professional familiarity with the local recovery community; lived experience is valued but not required

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments, including ASAM forms
Provide routine nursing care at various levels of care
Identify treatment needs and integrate findings into collaborative, measurable treatment plans
Complete nursing documentation in accordance with facility and state requirements
Review medication logs and assist the medical department with a variety of tasks
Administer medications as directed by the medical provider
Facilitate medication education for patients
Collaborate with patients, families, and referral sources on progress updates and post-discharge planning
Apply clinical judgment in crisis situations, including risk assessments and de-escalation
Build rapport and trust with patients through strong interpersonal skills
