About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) position is a 36-hour per week role with rotating day/night shifts and 12-hour shifts, requiring every third weekend. This role requires 12 months of previous RN work experience. The Rehabilitation Unit at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is an 18-bed unit dedicated to delivering safe, high-quality, family-centered care. The unit specializes in treating children recovering from various conditions including brain injury, stroke, spinal cord or orthopedic trauma, and neuromuscular disorders. The care provided is interdisciplinary, involving nursing, physical, occupational, and speech therapy, as well as neuropsychology, integrative health, and child life programs. The Clinical Nurse practices at an advanced beginner to expert level, demonstrating competence in caring for patients and families, including those with complex problems and high acuity. Care is delivered through RN leadership within a family-centered care framework, adhering to the organizational and nursing department mission, vision, and values, as well as professional nursing standards and applicable Nurse Practice Acts.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Follows the nursing process to deliver safe, compassionate, and culturally effective care.
  • Gathers and synthesizes assessment data to determine the patient/family plan of care, pertinent data to be shared with the care team, and tasks to be delegated.
  • Recognizes and/or seeks resources to recognize clinical changes indicative of patient deterioration; utilizes the CAT team when appropriate.
