About The Position
The NSICU provides comprehensive patient care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. NSICU is a 29-bed unit with all private rooms, three negative pressure rooms and two fully equipped nursing stations with central monitoring available on either side. Common diagnoses for these patients include but are not limited to: subarachnoid hemorrhage, subdural hematoma, epidural hematoma, spinal cord injuries, Code Stroke, head trauma, intracranial hemorrhages, brain tumors, continuous EEG and carotid endarterectomies. The nurses specialize in utilizing the NIHSS, monitoring and manipulating external ventricular devise, subdural drains, and IRRAS. We have a 1:2 ratio and have an AACN Beacon of Excellence Silver Designation. Atrium Health’s Carolinas Medical Center (CMC) is the flagship hospital of Atrium Health, which is distinguished throughout the Southeastern United States for its excellent patient care and medical expertise. CMC serves as the region’s only Level 1 Trauma center, is Magnet-designated, and also an approved transplant center for heart, kidney, pancreas and liver. We also serve as one of North Carolina’s five Academic Medical Center Teaching Hospitals, providing residency training for more than 200 physicians in 15 specialties and serve as a satellite for the medical school at UNC-Chapel Hill.
Requirements
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
- Candidates must have at least 6 months of RN experience, this position is not for new grads
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
