Registered Nurse – Outpatient Primary Care Clinic
About The Position
CEC Healthcare is a not-for-profit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) providing comprehensive medical, dental, and behavioral health services to historically underserved communities across Long Island. We are committed to delivering compassionate, high-quality care to individuals with limited incomes, including many patients with autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), behavioral health conditions, and substance use disorders. Our integrated healthcare centers located in Bethpage and Glen Cove support a collaborative team-based model that integrates medical and behavioral health services to improve patient outcomes. We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our outpatient primary care clinic in Bethpage. This role provides direct clinical support to providers, performs nursing assessments, and manages patient triage in a fast-paced clinic environment serving a diverse patient population. Many of our patients include individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), making compassion, patience, and strong communication skills essential. This role is ideal for a Registered Nurse (RN) seeking an outpatient primary care or clinic nurse position with a stable daytime schedule.
Requirements
- Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 1 year RN experience, preferably in an outpatient or physician office setting
- Current BLS certification
- Experience working with patients with I/DD
- Knowledge of physician office or outpatient clinic workflows
Nice To Haves
- Experience using eClinicalWorks (EMR)
- Strong patient education and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based healthcare environment
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments for outpatient primary care patients
- Provide patient triage and respond to clinical inquiries
- Assist providers with patient care and clinical procedures
- Educate patients on medications, treatment plans, and preventive care
- Coordinate care with medical providers and behavioral health professionals
- Document patient care in eClinicalWorks EMR
- Maintain compliance with clinical policies and healthcare regulations
