About The Position

To provide direct and indirect nursing services to patients and families. This role involves clinical advancement, utilizing systematic planning, appropriate methods, and timely exchange of information with the multidisciplinary team and patient/family to coordinate care. The nurse will demonstrate the ability to focus on and manage multiple patient needs and aspects of care, actively communicating with the care team to plan patient care and utilizing available resources to problem-solve and determine the most effective approach to action. Clinical judgment and decision-making are key, using the nursing process and a critical thinking approach to provide patient care that incorporates the mind, body, and spirit; is individualized, goal-directed, and consistent with current standards of safety. The role includes identifying actual/potential problems for which the patient is at risk, continuously evaluating interventions and care, and adjusting the plan as patient and family needs change. The nurse will identify the need for referrals, collaborate with patient, family, and other team members to develop a comprehensive plan of care, and prioritize demand for resources. They will also act as a preceptor/teacher, implement safe, therapeutic, and efficient care for patients with complex needs, and document per department/entity guidelines. Clinical leadership involves delegating/assigning and communicating expectations for care delivery processes, assessing the appropriateness of physician orders, and helping coworkers improve performance. A therapeutic relationship with the patient and family will be established, anticipating problems and adapting nursing interventions to meet diverse needs. The nurse will serve as a patient advocate, provide age-appropriate patient education, and coordinate transfer and discharge planning.

Requirements

Graduate of nursing school.
1 Year clinical experience (RNs with less than 12 months experience will complete the new grad requirements).
California Registered Nurse (RN) - CA Board of Registered Nursing -REQUIRED
AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

Coordinates patient care administered by other members of the care team.
May assume the responsibility of relief charge nurse and may assist with preceptorship/professional development of new nurses and students.
