About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Operating Room assesses, diagnoses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care through outcome identification and evidence-based practice. As an integral member of the healthcare team, the RN coordinates care and communicates and collaborates with other healthcare team members, patients, and their families or significant others, while maintaining high standards of professional ethics. Direct OR scrub and circulating experience is required. The schedule is four 10-hour shifts, 6:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m., totaling 40 hours per week.

Requirements

Direct operating room scrub and circulating experience.
Knowledge of nursing skills, hospital practices, procedures, and standards.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to coordinate the efforts of a team of care providers.
Valid New Jersey RN license; approved licenses must be presented and maintained in accordance with the New Jersey Licensing Board.
Stay current with nursing practice through ongoing education, journals, and similar resources.

Responsibilities

Assess patients and develop, implement, and evaluate plans of care.
Administer, monitor, and document therapeutic interventions and regimens.

Educate patients and their families or responsible parties about disease processes, individual care needs, wellness, and safety issues.

Identify and participate in performance improvement activities.
Maintain professional and departmental competencies.
Coordinate patient care and collaborate with healthcare team members, patients, and families or significant others.
