About The Position

Every role at NeighborHealth is vital to advancing medicine and delivering the best care experience. This Registered Nurse position is part-time in the South End Washington Family Med department.

Requirements

Completion of Accredited Nursing Program.
Licensure in Massachusetts as an RN.
BCLS certification per department policy.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
1 year relevant nursing experience in a community health and/or ambulatory care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

Hold ultimate responsibility for direct and indirect nursing care, including providing nursing care, health maintenance, teaching, counseling, planning and restoration for optimal functioning and comfort.
Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the department’s immediate needs and long term growth goals.
Show initiative, use critical thinking to problem solve independently, exhibit leadership qualities, and effectively engage with the clinical team.
Assess a patient through obtaining patient history and performing appropriate tests and observations.
Communicate with the patient’s provider and educate the patient on test results, new care plans and/or other relevant health care information including the use of newly prescribed medications and/or changes in the current medication regime.
Demonstrate sound clinical judgment/decision making when triaging sick patients, both on the phone and in the waiting room.
Safely and effectively administer medications, tests and treatments as ordered.
Teach patients and families health care regimens.
Explain and provide information regarding disease and wellness, tests, results, medications, diet, exercise, and other aspects of the plan of care to patients.
