About The Position

The professional nurse provides patient- and family-centered care using the nursing process to address each patient's physical, psychological, emotional, and social needs. The nurse develops individualized plans of care with patients and their designated care partners, considering their priorities, cultural beliefs, and values. This role is a full-time day position in the Med/Surg Telemetry unit (MS4) at Washington Township.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; specialized diploma required.
• Knowledge of patient- and family-centered practice and the ability to collaborate respectfully with patients, families, and designated care partners in care planning.
• Cultural awareness and the ability to connect effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Effective communication skills, including accurately conveying and interpreting information and needs, using partnership-oriented language, and delegating respectfully and appropriately.
• Ability to assess patients’ ailments and injuries and implement treatment plans.
• Knowledge of education techniques and ability to identify learning needs and educate patients and care partners about conditions, treatment, medications, and recovery steps.
• Knowledge of medications and ability to administer them and apply medication knowledge to continuing treatment outside the hospital.
• Knowledge of post-discharge needs and ability to collaborate on discharge plans and follow-up care.
• Knowledge of patient assessment tools and nursing diagnosis or clinical judgment, with ability to analyze symptoms and identify appropriate resolutions.
• Knowledge of health information and documentation methods, with ability to record relevant patient information in written or electronic form.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
• Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey.

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN), or completion of a BSN or appropriate advanced degree within three years of hire, strongly preferred.

• Participate in hospital- and practice-setting committees, including safety and quality-improvement committees.
• Give and receive feedback and incorporate appropriate changes into practice.
