About The Position

The Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit (CSICU) at Trillium Health Partners is part of a high-volume Regional Cardiac Program, delivering advanced cardiac surgical care in close collaboration with our regional partners. Our 12-bed specialty ICU cares for patients requiring complex cardiac surgery, including Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG), valve repair and replacement, and aortic dissection repair. CSICU offers a fast-paced, highly specialized clinical environment where nurses and interprofessional team members work at the forefront of cardiac critical care. Team members gain exposure to high-acuity patients, cutting-edge surgical interventions, and the opportunity to develop deep expertise within a supportive, collaborative, and learning-focused unit at a busy regional referral centre.

Requirements

  • Registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) or currently meet the eligibility criteria to register in good standing in the Temporary Class or General Class with the CNO
  • Currently enrolled and have already commenced a recognized Critical Care Certificate Program
  • BCLS required
  • ACLS required within 6 months of hire
  • Current Coronary Care Level 1 and 2 Certificate Required
  • Advanced physical assessment skills
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and effectively in order to prioritize needs in emergency situations
  • Highly effective decision making, problem solving and organizational skills combined with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong leadership & assessment skills
  • History of ongoing professional development and be a self-directed learner; demonstrated by evidence of continuous learning, required
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and commitment to customer service and teamwork
  • Experienced in patient education and sharing knowledge of expected outcomes and care
  • Positive attendance and work record essential

  • Recent experience and exposure in Intensive Care nursing preferred
