About The Position

The 23-bed Emergency Department of Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Lakeway is equipped to treat critical and life-threatening conditions in patients of all ages. The department has the additional support of Baylor Scott & White's multidisciplinary team, providing access to specialists in a full range of care, ensuring you receive quality medical care during the times you need it most. The department features board-certified emergency room physicians and trauma-trained nurses, a Chest Pain Team as an official STEMI Designated Center, a Resuscitation Center of Excellence, and is CalmerKids Certified. Specialty physicians are on call 24 hours a day for general and vascular surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedics, neurology, cardiology, pediatrics, nuclear medicine, and internal medicine. Patients have 24-hour access to laboratory, X-ray and surgical services.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited course or have at least 2 years of experience surpassing the minimal qualification required.
  • Field of Study: The applicable major should be nursing.
  • A minimum of 2 years in a relevant role is expected.
  • Hold a BLS certificate now or obtain within 30 days of starting in this role.
  • Registered Nurse License
  • Familiarity with nursing and patient care standards and procedures.
  • Awareness of legal requirements and standards of certification and accreditation bodies, including the specifics of the hospital and respective department/unit.
  • Good command of medical terminology, with a focus on healthcare promotion, risk reduction, and disease prevention.
  • Effective communication skills, along with social aptitude for interacting with diverse stakeholders.
  • Possessing critical thinking and problem-solving skills is crucial.
  • Capability to identify and report changes in patient conditions, develop, and modify patient care plans as required.
  • Basic computer skills necessary for day-to-day assignments.

  • Observe indicators closely, support evidence-based changes with research and hands-on learning.
  • Create a caring, safe environment for patients, families, and staff.
  • Build relationships with boundaries in mind. Focus on managing emotional and physical pain to promote healing and reduce suffering.
  • Facilitate learning for all members of the healthcare team, including patients, families, and nursing staff, ensuring everyone is well-informed.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and the community to develop and execute an integrated plan of care.
  • Use problem-solving strategies and utilize available resources to support patients, family and staff as part of a systems thinking approach.
