Requirements

  • Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) - Within 60 days of hire or transfer.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing.
  • Ability to work assigned schedules and hours as determined by the department.
  • Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly, and/or more than 50 pounds frequently, and/or more than 100 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.
  • Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of Registered Nurse Experience
  • Bachelors degree in Nursing

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the ANA Nursing Process (2010) to perform all nursing functions, including data collection, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation of direct patient care.
  • Coordinates care delivery and employs strategies for health teaching, health promotion, and creating a safe environment.
  • Evaluates progress toward the attainment of patient outcomes.
  • Enhances the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice through systematic improvement.
  • Attains and maintains knowledge and competency reflecting current nursing practice.
  • Evaluates personal nursing practice against professional standards, statutes, rules, and regulations.
  • Interacts with and contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues.
  • Collaborates with patients, families, and others in nursing practice.
  • Integrates ethical provisions and research findings into practice.
  • Considers safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact on practice when planning and delivering nursing services.
  • Provides leadership in the professional practice setting and the profession.
  • Practices in an environmentally safe and healthy manner.
  • Supports the purpose, vision, and values of Monument Health.
  • Practices within the legal scope of a Registered Professional Nurse as outlined by the state and delivers competent care consistent with standards, policies, laws, regulators, and accreditation/certifying organizations.
  • Abides by the Provisions of the Code of Ethics for Nurses (ANA 2010).
  • Proficiently uses applicable technology and software to support and document nursing activities and patient care, and accesses other work-related applications.
  • Continuously seeks opportunities to improve the quality of patient care delivery through innovative and creative problem-solving.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
