Requirements

Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) - Within 60 days of hire or transfer.
Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing.
Ability to work assigned schedules and hours as determined by the department.
Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly, and/or more than 50 pounds frequently, and/or more than 100 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.
Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances.

5+ years of Registered Nurse Experience
Bachelors degree in Nursing

Responsibilities

Utilizes the ANA Nursing Process (2010) to perform all nursing functions, including data collection, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation of direct patient care.
Coordinates care delivery and employs strategies for health teaching, health promotion, and creating a safe environment.
Evaluates progress toward the attainment of patient outcomes.
Enhances the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice through systematic improvement.
Attains and maintains knowledge and competency reflecting current nursing practice.
Evaluates personal nursing practice against professional standards, statutes, rules, and regulations.
Interacts with and contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues.
Collaborates with patients, families, and others in nursing practice.
Integrates ethical provisions and research findings into practice.
Considers safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact on practice when planning and delivering nursing services.

Practices within the legal scope of a Registered Professional Nurse as outlined by the state and delivers competent care consistent with standards, policies, laws, regulators, and accreditation/certifying organizations.

Proficiently uses applicable technology and software to support and document nursing activities and patient care, and accesses other work-related applications.
Continuously seeks opportunities to improve the quality of patient care delivery through innovative and creative problem-solving.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
