About The Position

This role is for a Registered Nurse on the Med Surg Float Team at Columbia St. Mary's Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. The position is PRN with rotating shifts. The nurse will lead high-acuity patient care across Intermediate and Med/Surg units, utilizing specialized training in progressive care to stabilize and support complex patients. They will serve as the central point of contact for all clinical disciplines, orchestrating the care journey and ensuring a seamless recovery plan. The role involves monitoring and advocating for patient safety, documenting care journeys with precision, and adapting to evolving hospital needs by providing expert nursing support where the hospital’s highest-acuity cases require it most.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Licensure from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing OR current home state license if considered multi-state/Compact State.
  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire required.
  • Five years PCU and other specialty experience.
  • Three or more years of nursing experience.
  • Med/surg and progressive care trained (chest tubes, cardizem gtt, amiodarone gtt., etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Responsibilities
