About The Position
VitalCore Health Strategies is hiring a part-time, day-shift Registered Nurse at Pondville Correctional Center in Norfolk, Massachusetts. The RN provides quality care within the scope of practice established by the state nurse practice act and applicable regulations. The RN delegates and supervises nursing activities performed by competent personnel within their scopes of practice, remains accountable for the quality of care, and works to maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and themselves. The RN also advocates for patients and promotes nursing best practices. The position is part of a correctional healthcare setting.
Requirements
- Nursing degree from an accredited college or university, or graduation from an approved RN program.
- Current Registered Nurse license in the state.
- Work in accordance with local practice acts and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
- Administer medications and monitor patients for reactions and side effects.
- Record patients’ medical information and vital signs.
- Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients’ conditions.
- Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
- Modify treatment plans based on patients’ responses and conditions.
- Monitor patient care, including diet and physical activity.
- Direct or supervise less-skilled nursing or healthcare personnel, or supervise a particular unit.
- Prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments.
- Provide instruction on health education and disease prevention, and develop health improvement programs.
- Prepare rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies, and ensure supplies are stocked.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to assess patients’ conditions.
- Attend required training and meetings.
- Delegate and supervise nursing activities consistent with applicable practice regulations and personnel scope of practice.
- Promote patient safety, advocate for patients, and support nursing best practices.
