About The Position

Southeastern Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Inc. We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to provide nursing services and medically monitor clients in our substance abuse detox facility — playing a vital role in supporting individuals through one of the most critical steps in their recovery journey.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in nursing or a related health care field; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Current State of Connecticut Department of Public Health Registered Nurse License required
  • CPR Certification required
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, external health care providers, clients, and families
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information clearly in one-on-one and group settings
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize critical tasks in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Perform initial nursing assessments and document ongoing client assessments in response to treatment
  • Perform client admissions
  • Develop, implement, record, and evaluate nursing care plans according to the age and specific needs of each client
  • Participate in and supervise nursing care, providing direct physical care measures as needed
  • Act as a primary nurse, working with individual clients and coordinating their treatment
  • Execute the medical regimen of care as prescribed by the physician
  • Educate clients and families toward an understanding of health, illness, and plans for post-discharge care
  • Respond to medical and psychiatric emergency needs of clients
  • Participate in the orientation of new employees and the transfer of knowledge necessary for the performance of duties
