About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in Postpartum at Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital delivers patient care using the nursing process. The nurse collects and assesses data, identifies and prioritizes patient problems and needs, evaluates care and outcomes, coordinates and provides patient teaching, and coordinates care with other health team members. Working with the interdisciplinary care team, the nurse conducts initial and ongoing assessments, analyzes findings, develops and implements plans of care, and evaluates treatment effectiveness. The role includes administering medications safely according to state requirements and organizational policies, coordinating patients’ care across hospital departments, advocating for patient safety through ongoing quality improvement, and incorporating the professional practice model into care delivery.

Requirements

At least 1 year of prior RN experience.
Valid nursing license from the state of practice.
Associate of Nursing degree or Diploma in Nursing.
BLS Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required at hire for Roper St. Francis Healthcare locations; for BSMH, it is preferred at hire and required before independent patient care.
Knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and future innovations.
Nursing judgment and skill based on biological, physical, behavioral, and social sciences.
Ability to apply the nursing process in patient care delivery and coordinate care.
Ability to evaluate professional nursing practice to optimize goals and outcomes.
Skills in health teaching, health promotion, patient advocacy, and partnership.

Responsibilities
