About The Position

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for Cornell 2, a Medical/Surgical unit specializing in oncology, urology, diabetes, kidney disease, COPD, and CHF. This is a full-time night shift position in Charlottesville, VA. The unit offers a dynamic environment for experienced nurses and new graduates, with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:5/1:6. The position includes comprehensive orientation and ongoing professional development. The hospital is Magnet status, a 176-bed facility with all private rooms, and has been serving the community for over 100 years. Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
  • Registered nursing License (Required)
  • Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire
  • None required experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
  • Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.
  • 1 year of acute care (preferred)
  • Previous healthcare experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the nursing process.
  • Adhere to the standards of practice including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching and health promotion, and evaluation.
  • Uphold the standards of professional performance including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
