About The Position

Saint Luke’s Hospital on the Plaza is seeking a team-oriented nurse to work in its Digestive Disease/GI Department. The unit performs therapeutic interventions, pulmonary procedures, pre- and post-procedural care, pre-anesthesia assessments, endoscopy, and other GI procedures beyond upper and lower scopes. The Registered Nurse assists with pre- and post-procedural care and pre-anesthesia assessments, and circulates and assists physicians during procedures. The nurse may travel to the ICU to perform bedside procedures as needed.

The role involves working in a fast-paced environment with variety from day to day, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and providing patient-centered care. GI or procedural nursing experience is not required; training is provided. This is a part-time day position with rotating on-call requirements, including evenings and weekends.

Requirements

• Associate degree.
• Current Missouri Registered Nurse license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
• Ability to take assigned rotating call, including evenings and weekends.
• One year of applicable experience.

Responsibilities

• Use the nursing process independently and remain accountable for nursing practice.
• Coordinate care for a group of endoscopy and/or bronchoscopy patients with the multidisciplinary team.
• Assist with pre- and post-procedural care and pre-anesthesia assessments.
• Circulate and assist physicians during procedures.
• Travel to the ICU to perform bedside procedures as needed.
• Delegate tasks appropriately and identify hospital resources.
• Serve as a clinical resource for new employees.
• Demonstrate positive formal or informal leadership within the endoscopy unit or department.
