About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides safe, accurate, and efficient patient care, including patient assessment, review of labs and vital signs, medication safety, dose verification, and drug administration. The role involves following all Job Breakdown Instructions (JBIs) and providing triage care when necessary, effectively communicating patient conditions to multidisciplinary team members. Requirements

  • Nursing Degree
  • Unencumbered RN License in state of employment or multi-state license
  • Current CPR and BLS certifications
  • Valid Driver’s License and vehicle for travel to other clinic locations as needed
  • Experience with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital setting
  • Ability to assess patient needs and condition is essential
  • Strong critical thinking skills, as well as the ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
  • Fluency in the English language with excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Solid problem solving, analysis, decision-making, planning, time management and organizational skills
  • Detailed oriented with the ability to exercise independent judgment
  • Developed interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, diplomacy, tact, conflict management, delegation skills, and diversity awareness
  • Ability to work effectively with sensitive and confidential material and sometimes emotionally charged matters
  • Good command of the English language

Responsibilities

  • Safely and accurately administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy, supportive care, and non-oncologic agents to patients as ordered by providers, adhering to Oncology Nurse’s Society (ONS) standards and guidelines.
  • Accurately and safely dispose of biohazardous waste, per OSHA and NIOSH guidelines.
  • Provide new and ongoing patient education, continual patient assessment, and support.
  • Thoroughly, accurately, and timely document treatment rendered to patients in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Ensure appropriate charges are captured by following guidelines for appropriate administration of all medications and activities.
  • Follow proper patient identification per JBI for all patient encounters.
  • Educate patients and caregivers about medications, side effects, and planned treatment course.
  • Interact with patient and family in a caring, professional manner.
  • Prioritize incoming calls and messages from patients, family members, hospitals, nursing facilities, pharmacies, and physician offices from emergent to non-urgent, and respond accordingly in an appropriate time frame (telephone triage).
  • Assist with inventory and re-stocking medical supplies.
  • Recommend purchase of new items as needed.
  • Place stock in storage areas in a timely manner.
  • Complete annual required safety and nursing trainings.
  • Attend all mandatory staff meetings as necessary.
  • Always maintain and ensure the confidentiality of all patient and employee information.
  • Assist in training new employees related to job duties according to JBIs.
  • Work at any Company location to help meet the Company’s business needs on an as-needed basis, within reasonable expectations.
  • Work overtime when given sufficient notice.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Comply with all federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to patient privacy, patient’s rights, personnel law, safety, labor, and employment law.
  • Adhere to Company and departmental policies and procedures, including IT policies and procedures and Disaster Plan.
