About The Position

This is a full-time night position for a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care unit at Atlantic Health Newton Medical Center. The role involves providing high-quality patient care, performing systematic assessments, administering medications and treatments, educating patients, and collaborating with the healthcare team. The nurse will demonstrate critical thinking, time management, and leadership skills while adhering to all relevant standards and protocols.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
• BLS certification.
• Minimum of one year nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform systematic, comprehensive, and accurate patient assessments, including discharge needs and pain levels.
• Monitor effects of medications and treatments, reporting adverse effects promptly.
• Provide appropriate intervention, reassessment, and documentation for patient care.
• Systematically monitor the maintenance of protocols, standards, and plans of care.
• Plan and provide individualized patient education.
• Perform nursing-related skills and activities competently.
• Analyze situations critically and maintain complete and accurate documentation.
• Identify and document realistic long and short-term goals.
• Complete interdisciplinary plan of care records and participate in interdisciplinary rounds.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and revise the plan of care as needed.
• Recognize and evaluate patient and family responses to therapies and nursing interventions.
• Communicate clearly and effectively with all members of the healthcare team.
• Complete hand-off communication and give complete reports to other caregivers.
• Demonstrate critical thinking and time management skills necessary for effective patient care.
• Assume responsibility and accountability for the safe nursing care of assigned patients.
• Delegate responsibilities appropriately to others.
• Conduct regular patient rounds to ensure safety and enhance patient experience.
• Actively participate in daily interdisciplinary huddles to support coordinated care.
• Utilize approved clinical communication tools (e.g., Vocera) in accordance with organizational standards.
• Adhere to OSHA, Joint Commission, Standards of Nursing Practice supported by NJ BON, professional association, ANA Code of Ethics & Scope of Standards and Practice NJ Board of Health, and hospital standards.
• Use two patient identifiers and check allergies before medication administration.
• Follow hand washing protocols and maintain isolation precautions.
• Properly use and store equipment, checking expiration dates.
• Demonstrate leadership and function as a resource/mentor.
• Actively participate in Shared Governance.
