About The Position

Fairview is seeking skilled and passionate Registered Nurses to join their Labor & Delivery team in Burnsville, MN. This hospital, located south of Minneapolis, has been a provider of maternity care and community health services since 1984. The Fairview Ridges Birthplace includes a 30-bed Postpartum unit, a 9-bed Labor & Delivery unit, and a 3-bed Maternal Assessment Center, handling approximately 2,000 deliveries annually. The role involves working in a collaborative, patient- and family-centered environment that respects patient preferences for medical and non-medical support during labor, delivery, and postpartum. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). This includes performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policies, procedures, professional practice guidelines, and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.

Requirements

  • MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • 1 year L&D Experience OR 2 years Postpartum Experience OR 2 years Acute Care Experience
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
  • NRP at hire or by completion of orientation period.
  • Attendance at Fetal monitoring and Pregnancy & Newborn Loss class (both to be completed within 1 yr of hire if not acquired prior to hire).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing or BAN
  • 1-3 years of L&D experience

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
  • Collaborates with patient, family, and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care.
  • Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition, and other relevant needs.
  • Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, family, and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care.
  • Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways, and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Promotes a culture of evidence-based practice (EBP).
