The Alex is a community-based, not-for-profit organization that has been providing integrated primary health care, community support services, and housing-focused programs since 1973. They serve individuals and families facing barriers to traditional health, housing, and social service systems. Their services are based on principles of health equity, low-barrier access, trauma-informed practice, cultural safety, harm reduction, and person-centered care. The Community Health Bus offers team-based primary health care and integrated social supports, including primary care assessment, wound care, chronic disease support, and connections to resources. The Mobile Registered Nurse (RN) reports to the Program Manager and works with individuals with complex mental health and psychosocial needs, focusing on patient-centered care. In collaboration with other healthcare professionals, the RN plays a key role in the mobile clinic's operations, including triage, assessment, treatment, case management, and care coordination. This role involves outreach to youth and adult populations via a mobile medical bus, providing services such as sexual and reproductive health care, laboratory procedures, mental health support, chronic disease management, and episodic care. A portion of the role also involves working on the Diabetes Mobile Clinic, a partnership with the University of Calgary.
