About The Position

Under general supervision, provides professional nursing services on an as-needed basis to support Behavioral Health, Substance Use Disorder, Crisis Services, Residential Services, and other assigned programs. Performs nursing assessments, medication administration, treatment support, health education, and consumer monitoring activities. Provides coverage for staffing needs, vacancies, leave coverage, operational demands, emergencies, and special assignments while promoting quality care and compliance with accepted nursing standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university; OR Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Current unrestricted Georgia Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license.
  • Related professional nursing experience preferred.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification preferred.
  • Valid Georgia driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must successfully pass required criminal background screening and pre-employment drug testing.
  • Ability to identify and report adverse medication reactions and side effects.
  • Ability to accurately assess consumer limitations and healthcare needs.
  • Ability to safely operate lifting and transfer devices.
  • Ability to recognize pressure injuries and other clinical concerns.
  • Ability to recognize personal care and hygiene needs.
  • Ability to accurately observe and document consumer behavior.
  • Ability to identify significant changes in consumer conditions or behaviors.
  • Ability to perform CPR and emergency response procedures.
  • Ability to obtain vital signs and conduct routine nursing assessments.
  • Ability to assess, prioritize, and address consumer needs.
  • Ability to collect laboratory specimens and bodily fluids safely.
  • Ability to answer consumer and family questions regarding care and treatment.
  • Ability to provide nursing care, personal care, and health education.
  • Ability to implement treatment plans and nursing interventions.
  • Knowledge of emergency response and code protocols.
  • Knowledge of behavioral health, substance use disorders, physical health conditions, and treatment approaches.
  • Knowledge of facility safety practices and procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary treatment teams.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to take ownership and follow tasks through to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes assessment and screening data to determine appropriate treatment and service recommendations.
  • Performs comprehensive nursing assessments.
  • Uses appropriate interview techniques to obtain health, behavioral health, and substance use histories.
  • Performs head-to-toe physical examinations and visual assessments.
  • Documents clinical information accurately, completely, and timely.
  • Administers medications and vaccines safely and accurately in accordance with physician orders and agency policies.
  • Provides treatments and preventative care according to physician orders and accepted nursing standards of practice.
  • Assists in determining appropriate levels of care based on physician, nursing, and clinical input.
  • Obtains laboratory specimens and performs venipuncture procedures as required.
  • Monitors, records, and reports symptoms and changes in consumer conditions.
  • Communicates with consumers in a respectful, professional, and compassionate manner.
  • Educates consumers and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, disease processes, and wellness practices.
  • Accurately transcribes and implements physician orders.
  • Maintains accurate tracking systems, logs, reports, and documentation.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed clinical records.
  • Facilitates referrals to community resources and services when appropriate.
  • Maintains safety and security within assigned treatment areas.
  • Reports abnormalities, incidents, and changes in consumer status promptly.
  • Participates as a member of interdisciplinary treatment teams.
  • Supports consumer-centered and recovery-oriented care.
  • Provides nursing coverage for assigned programs, locations, weekends, holidays, and emergency staffing situations as needed.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
