The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care to assigned patients in the Behavioral Health Service Line Walker Family Clinic. The RN will primarily provide support for the physicians and act as a liaison between the patient, the front office staff, and the physicians. A successful candidate will have a clinical background preferably in psychiatry or behavioral health. Primary duties will be to triage to determine the urgency of patient care, handle all crisis calls, answer medication questions in collaboration with physicians, take vital signs, review lab work and present exceptions to physicians, provide clinical assessment for initial call backs and other duties as assigned. A successful candidate will have good communication skills, good time management and priority management skills, ability to prioritize and work with autonomy, good organizational skills, familiarity with psychiatric medication and interactions, and clinical experience with psychiatric patients and/or environment. Employee must successfully complete a UAMS-sponsored conflict management training to identify, prevent, and mitigate disruptive behaviors using methods such as non-escalation, de-escalation, personal protection from physical assaults, and physical alternatives within six months of hire. The Walker Family Clinic is located in the Psychiatric Research Institute building on the main UAMS campus.
