About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager of the Wound Care Department and following the Nurse Practice Act and Scope of Service, this position will work collaboratively with the other staff members and medical staff to serve the patients of the Wound Care Department and function in the areas including but not limited to: Provides direct care for patients in the clinic setting including holistic assessment, comprehensive wound evaluations according to protocols, and preparation of patient for medical appropriately. Provides continuity of care for patients as plan of care may involve multiple disciplines, products, and sites for care including inpatient care, outpatient procedures and clinic care. Prioritizes to consistently meet deadlines and keep documentation current. Participates in the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process, review and revision of policies and procedures. Handles daily and routine problems following proper channels of communication and recognizes complex issues that need referral with recommendations to management. Assumes active role in WCC by participating at staff meetings and other center related activities. Attends all mandatory education programs and some additional continuing professional education functions to enhance skills and judgment. All other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • BLS and ACLS Certification
  • 1 year hospital experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and listening skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy
  • Computer skills and ability to use the Electronic Health Record (EHR) or the willingness to learn the EHR

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Wound care certification
  • 1 year working as a wound care nurse
  • 1 year hospital Medical/Surgical or Rehabilitation experience
  • Knowledge of Wound Related products and procedures
  • Knowledge of comprehensive wound management including wound assessment, formulation of treatment plan, recommendation of appropriate wound dressing, documentation, evaluation, education, data collection, surveillance and outcome data
