About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Wound Care Registered Nurse to provide specialized wound, ostomy, and continence care services in an acute care hospital setting. The ideal candidate will perform comprehensive assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, provide education to patients and staff, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN/ASN) from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current AHA BLS Certification.
  • Minimum two (2) years of recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience.
  • Wound care and colostomy care experience.
  • Strong assessment, care planning, and patient education skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Current certification in at least one of the following: CWOCN – Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse, CWON – Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse, CWCN – Certified Wound Care Nurse, CWS – Certified Wound Specialist, WCC – Wound Care Certified

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing complex wounds, fistulas, ostomies, and pressure injuries.
  • Experience providing wound care education to patients and clinical staff.
  • Acute care hospital wound care experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive wound, ostomy, and continence assessments.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care.
  • Perform focused physical assessments and recommend appropriate treatment interventions.
  • Assess, document, and evaluate patient responses to wound care therapies.
  • Manage patients with complex wounds, ostomies, fistulas, and pressure injuries.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Provide patient, family, and caregiver education regarding wound prevention and management.
  • Develop and deliver staff education and continuing education programs.
  • Conduct pressure injury risk assessments and implement preventative measures.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and nursing quality programs.
  • Assist with evaluation and selection of wound care supplies, equipment, and technology.
  • Manage specialty equipment including specialty beds and negative pressure wound therapy devices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure regulatory compliance.
