About The Position

The Registered Nurse has the responsibility and accountability for direct comprehensive nursing care for the patient from admission to discharge. This involves planning, assessing, intervening, and evaluating the care of the patient with an outcome-focused approach, from the initial assessment through routine ongoing assessments, implemented interventions, and ultimately through the discharge of the patient. The role requires involving the patient, family, provider, and other members of the care team. The nurse reviews and documents care provided, outcomes of care, and evaluations of care, while following professional standards of care. They apply evidence, professional standards, and best practice to bedside caregiving through critical thinking, experiential evidence, and evidence-based practices. The position also requires demonstrating the ability to prioritize care based on changing assessment and needs of patients, and maintaining ongoing communication with physicians and other departments in the hospital.

Requirements

  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ADN) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current unrestricted licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Kentucky required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.
  • Must obtain Crisis Prevention within 6 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Recent experience in specialty preferred.
  • Wound Care Certification preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited institution.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct comprehensive nursing care for the patient from admission to discharge.
  • Plan, assess, intervene, and evaluate the care of patient with an outcome focused approach from the initial assessment of patient, routine on-going assessment, implemented interventions as indicated, until and through the discharge of the patient, involving the patient, family, provider, and other members of the care team.
  • Review and document care provided, outcomes of care, and evaluations of care.
  • Follow the professional standards of care.
  • Apply evidence, professional standards, and best practice to bedside caregiving through critical thinking, experiential evidence, and evidence-based practices.
  • Demonstrate ability to prioritize care based on changing assessment and needs of patients.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with physicians and other departments in the hospital.
