About The Position

The Women’s Services Float Pool RN role is designed for experienced nurses who thrive in complexity, value variety, and want to work across the full continuum of mother and baby care. As a Women’s Services Float Pool RN, you will provide expert nursing care across NICU, Labor & Delivery, and Mother Baby units, supporting staffing needs while maintaining exceptional clinical and patient experience standards. This is a hands-on, fast paced role ideal for nurses who enjoy clinical diversity and seamless collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. Your shift may begin supporting a high-risk delivery in Labor and Delivery, transitioning to caring for newborns requiring specialized monitoring, or float to the Mother Baby Unit to support couplet care and family education. Every day brings meaningful variety, deep professional collaboration, and the opportunity to impact multiple patient journeys in a single shift.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
  • 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior NICU and Labor & Delivery experience.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to mothers, newborns, and families across NICU, Labor and Delivery, and Mother Baby units.
  • Utilize prior NICU and Labor and Delivery experience to confidently support a range of patient acuity and clinical scenarios.
  • Adapt quickly to unit specific workflows while maintaining continuity, safety, and compassionate care.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, lactation consultants, respiratory therapists, and support staff.
  • Serve as a trusted clinical resource within Women’s Services, supporting best practices and patient centered outcomes.
