About The Position

This role is part of the vascular access team, focusing on the management of complex phlebotomies, peripheral lines, and central lines. The vascular access nurse also serves as an educator, promoting best practices and participating in the orientation of new nursing staff. Requirements

  • Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
  • Minimum one (1) year pediatric experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Vulnerable Sector Check

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BScN)
  • PICC line insertion trained
  • Previous experience working within a Vascular Access Team (VAT) environment
  • Bilingualism (English/French)

Responsibilities

  • Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating practices related to the management of complex phlebotomies, peripheral lines, and central lines.
  • Facilitating knowledge transfer internally and externally with community partners as an educator.
  • Promoting best practices in pediatric vascular access at CHEO.
  • Participating in the orientation of all new nursing staff to ensure consistency in practices across the organization.
