About The Position

This position serves as a working supervisor responsible for coordinating the daily management and supervision of the Public Health Nursing Office (PHNO), including the planning and provision of infection prevention and control protocols, operating immunization clinics, providing educational programs for department staff. As well as identifying evidence-based improvements for the administration of clinical services through a coordinated auditing process of all DCR facilities including Mainland Branch contracted facilities. They are responsible for coordinating and implementing chronic disease screening/testing and treatment, managing and implementing Section 340B of the Public Health Service Act, hereafter referred to as the 340B program as long as it is federally supported. The incumbent must be willing to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays in order to accommodate facility schedule and availability of detainees/inmates.

Requirements

  • Citizenship, nationality, or permanent resident alien status of the United States, or eligibility under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
  • A valid license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Hawaii at the time of application.
  • Two and one-half (2-1/2) years of Public Health nursing experience as a registered nurse.
  • At least one (1) year of the required experience MUST HAVE been comparable to the Public Health Nurse IV level.
  • Current CPR certification at the time of application.
  • Must not have engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility or other institution.
  • Must not have been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse.
  • Must not have been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described above.
  • Must not have been the subject of substantiated allegations of sexual abuse or sexual harassment or resigned during a pending investigation of alleged sexual abuse or sexual harassment.

Nice To Haves

  • Association for Practitioners in Infection Control (APIC) training course or equivalent desired.
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is preferred.
