About The Position

Registered Nurse - Med Surg Urology Full Time Day Shift - TriHealth Good Samaritan Hospital - $5k Sign-On Bonus! This is a full-time day shift position, working 72 hours bi-weekly, from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm, with every 3rd weekend rotation and holiday rotation. Unit 14AB is a 22-bed medical unit caring for adult and geriatric patients with various medical diagnoses including complications from diabetes, pneumonia, cellulitis, encephalopathy, and remote telemetry. The unit also manages renal and urology surgery patients, including those who have undergone nephrectomy, prostatectomy, transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP), and those requiring continuous bladder irrigation (CBI). Patients requiring peritoneal dialysis (PD) treatments also have their care managed by trained 14AB nurses. This unit is supportive of new graduate growth and learning, offering opportunities to master time management and skills such as suprapubic catheter exchange, continuous bladder irrigation, vascath removal, and peritoneal dialysis.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree or Diploma in Nursing
  • BLS/CPR (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers)
  • Registered Nurse
  • Knowledge, judgment, and skills derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to meet complex health care needs a various stages of the life cycle

Nice To Haves

  • New hires required to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire.
  • Preferred membership in related professional organization
  • Previous RN experience preferred but not required
  • Preferred certification in specialty

Responsibilities

  • Perform and document initial and ongoing patient/family assessments.
  • Develop, communicate, and update individualized plans of care, including discharge planning.
  • Provide safe, patient-centered care that supports autonomy, dignity, and diversity.
  • Recognize and respond to emergencies and take appropriate clinical action.
  • Carry out physician orders accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Complete assigned care and documentation within required timeframes.
  • Administer medications/treatments safely and perform technical skills per policy.
  • Evaluate patient responses and revise the plan of care in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks appropriately to other team members.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and support training/education of staff and students.
  • Maintain current clinical knowledge and adhere to organizational and departmental standards.
  • Function in relief charge/resource roles as requested.
