About The Position

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Critical Care Stepdown Unit - PVSU (Progressive Ventilator Stepdown Unit). This role involves demonstrating proficiency in nursing practice for the assigned specialty area and providing clinical leadership for the delivery of nursing care in a department. The Registered Nurse Unit Coordinator, under the direction of the department manager, leads safety and quality initiatives, focuses on and simplifies workflow, and contributes to the development of staff. The goal is to increase staff satisfaction and promote excellent customer service. The PVSU at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is a 16-bed step-down unit specializing in the treatment of patients on mechanical ventilators, often admitted from an Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The unit focuses on maximizing rehabilitation while continuing to treat the cause of the illness through intensive physical therapy, respiratory care, and mental stimulation. The nurse/patient ratio is 3:1 based on nursing acuity.

Requirements

• Registered nursing License (Required)
• BLS required within 90 days of hire
• 18 months of relevant RN experience
