The PRN RN Triage role performs essential clinical and operational functions including patient triage, appointment scheduling, fax folder management, results management, medication refills, completion of forms, and outbound calls to patients with clinician guidance. Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. Implements and monitors patient care plans, monitors and records patient condition as appropriate, and serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders, and assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with the healthcare team. May round with a physician in an inpatient setting. Applies evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in healthcare to nursing practice, ensuring age-specific and clinical needs are met as described in the department's Scope of Service. Demonstrates professional nursing standards and uses the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses to guide practice. Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. Performs other duties as assigned.
