About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Trauma Surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Texas Health Fort Worth. The unit is a 20-bed Level I Trauma Center and a MAGNET facility, caring for high acuity, high volume patients including Trauma Surgical, Renal Transplant, MSOF patients, CRRT, Vent-patients, and those requiring all forms of life support. The department boasts a low nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2 and has a high average length of service among its staff, indicating a stable and experienced team. There is a robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and an engaged leadership team.

Requirements

Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required.
Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire.
BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly.
ACLS – within 90 days of hire required.
CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire.
1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required.
Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
Maintain a positive, customer-focused attitude toward patients.
Possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism.
Have basic computer skills using medical management application systems.

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred.
TNCC or ATCN – within 12 months of hire preferred.
Current ICU experience preferred - will consider PCU experience.

Responsibilities

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process: assesses the patient, plans the care of the patient, intervenes as appropriate, evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.
Incorporates age-specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information.
Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out-of-hospital transfers.
Delivery of high-quality patient care through nursing education, nursing research, and innovations in nursing practice.
