Adult Transplant Intensive Care Unit University Hospital’s Transplant Intensive Care Unit (TICU) is an 8-16 bed post abdominal transplant floor. The Registered Nurse on this unit would take care of a variety of patients such as liver, kidney, pancreas, intestine, and multi-visceral transplant recipients. An ideal candidate would enjoy a fast-paced work environment with high acuity patients. The TICU team embraces teamwork, the complexity of their patients, and advocates relentlessly for the best possible outcomes.

Requirements

  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.

Responsibilities

  • Take care of a variety of patients such as liver, kidney, pancreas, intestine, and multi-visceral transplant recipients.
  • Use of FloTrac devices
  • Blood gas interpretations
  • EKG Interpretation and Arrythmia management
  • Trained in Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
  • Management of Vasopressors
  • Intubated patient care
  • Immunosuppression therapy for transplant patients
