About The Position

This role involves collaborating with physicians to develop and implement patient care plans aimed at restoring optimal health. The Registered Nurse provides direct bedside nursing care, executes medical orders, and supervises the work of nursing assistants and other ancillary staff. Key responsibilities include evaluating the effectiveness of care plans, integrating evidence-based practices, delegating and coordinating nursing tasks, and participating in patient conferences. The position also focuses on identifying and addressing patient teaching needs for ongoing care and discharge/transfer, and assumes responsibility for professional growth through continuous education. Additionally, the nurse will teach and mentor other healthcare professionals, including new employees and students, and function as a team leader to ensure appropriate patient placement and assignment delegation.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and holding a current license to practice in the state of Michigan.
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross Certification.
• Must satisfactorily complete the first available basic dysrhythmia course

Nice To Haves

• Six (6) months experience in an acute care setting or equivalent
• Orthopedic Nurse Certification

Responsibilities

• Integrating evidence-based knowledge into practice.

• Identifies and provides the means to meet patients’ ongoing and discharge/transfer teaching needs by communicating with the appropriate resource persons and attending discharge/transfer planning conferences.
• Assumes the responsibility for professional growth by seeking out educational opportunities and utilizing programs in the hospital or elsewhere in the community.
• Teaches and/or guides professional and ancillary personnel.
• Precepts/mentors new employees and students.
• Functions as a team leader to ensure proper patient placement and delegation of assignments.
