About The Position

As a Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN), you'll care for adult patients requiring continuous cardiac and physiological monitoring for a variety of acute medical, cardiovascular, and neurological conditions. You'll collaborate with a dedicated team of healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care while utilizing advanced telemetry technology to monitor patient status, recognize changes in condition, and support timely clinical interventions. This dynamic unit offers the opportunity to strengthen your critical-thinking skills while caring for a diverse and medically complex patient population.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Registered Professional Nursing Program.
  • Active, unrestricted New York State (NYS) RN License.
  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (or obtained at time of hire).
  • CIT / De-escalation Training (Required upon hire/orientation for Behavioral Health, Emergency Department, and Crisis Services units).
  • Excellent clinical judgment, rapid problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to remain calm and effective during medical emergencies.
  • Ability to recognize patient care problems and to react appropriately in patient care emergencies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with other nursing personnel, patients, and physicians.
  • Ability to complete basic mathematical calculations.
  • Strong working knowledge of standard healthcare reporting and quality measures.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • ACLS Certification (Required before the completion of clinical orientation if assigned to: Critical Care, Emergency Department, PACU, Snuggery, Cardiovascular Lab, Interventional Radiology, GI Center, or Urgent Care).
  • PALS Certification (Required before the completion of clinical orientation if assigned to: Emergency Department or PACU).
  • Stroke Certification Education (Required upon hire and annually if assigned to: Emergency Department, Critical Care, or Tower 6 Telemetry/Neuroscience Unit).

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualized care plans.
  • Coordinate care with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to promote positive clinical outcomes and seamless transitions of care.
  • Monitor patient conditions, implement appropriate interventions, and adjust care plans based on changing needs and treatment goals.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, self-care, and discharge instructions.
  • Utilize electronic health record systems to document care accurately and maintain compliance with organizational standards.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, communicate effectively with team members, and ensure safe patient handoffs.
  • Delegate and supervise nursing support staff appropriately while maintaining accountability for patient care delivery.
  • Support a culture of safety, teamwork, quality improvement, and professional excellence through active participation in unit and organizational initiatives.
