About The Position

This role is for a Registered Nurse Team Lead in the Emergency Department, working nights. The Emergency Department at Mayo Clinic Phoenix treats a variety of life-threatening illnesses and is a Magnet accredited hospital with a 24/7 Cath Lab. The department is staffed by board-certified physicians, registered nurses, Emergency Medical Technicians, ED pharmacists, RN case managers, social workers, and other specially trained staff. The 56-bed emergency department is equipped with advanced, innovative patient-care equipment and includes specialized rooms for medical, mental health, and infectious patients, as well as a large staff breakroom with a patio. Requirements

  • Graduate of a Baccalaureate degree in a nursing program.
  • One year of RN experience in an applicable care setting.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment, making decisions and directing work and patient flow to achieve maximum work unit efficiency.
  • Demonstrated leadership, effective communicator, and excellent critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Current RN licensure by applicable state requirements.
  • Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.
  • Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of Emergency Department RN experience is preferred.
  • Prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in work unit specialty area preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a formal and informal leader on the unit.
  • Participates and collaborates with management staff to assist with the daily planning and coordination of the assigned work unit.
  • Delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and availability of resources.
  • Provides leadership through staff development, teaching, precepting, committee work, quality improvements, and participation in evidence-based practice and research.
  • Accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care.
  • Supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family.
  • Functions within the Mayo Nursing Care Model, including accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients.
  • Works within the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice as a basis for practice.
