About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for their Surgical Trauma unit. This position offers an opportunity to work independently and with a team of motivated professionals to provide ongoing collaboration and learning. The unit is a fast-paced, team-oriented, dynamic environment caring for a variety of trauma and surgical patients. The unit is comprised of a 44-bed unit and an additional 11-bed overflow unit with telemetry capabilities. The RN will provide care to patients undergoing general surgery, vascular surgery, plastic surgery, OB-GYN surgery, bariatric surgery, and trauma-related surgery. The role involves managing complex patient needs, utilizing technical nursing skills for tubes, lines, drains, and wound care. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to patients.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program required, including, but not limited to, American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
  • Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
  • Adaptable, great communicators, detail-oriented and have excellent time management skills.
  • Critical thinkers.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to patients.
  • Caring for a variety of trauma and surgical patients.
  • Managing the complex needs of a number of different surgical procedures, in addition to the medical history/needs of patients.
  • Utilizing technical, hands-on skills of nursing daily, as most patients come with a number of tubes, lines, drains, and/or wound cares/dressing changes.
