About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) will work in the Trauma Surgical/Burn Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Texas Health Fort Worth. This is a full-time position working 36 hours per week on the night shift (7 PM). The department is a 20-bed Surgical Trauma/Burn ICU, part of a Level I Trauma Center and a MAGNET facility. The unit cares for patients with Trauma Surgical, Renal Transplant, Burn, and MSOF conditions, including those requiring CRRT and ventilator support. The department is a designated Donor transfer center and cares for ICU-level burn injuries. The staff is known for high performance, excellent critical thinking skills, and a self-scheduling system that supports work/life balance and educational/career growth. The department has a robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and an engaged leadership team, operating as a high acuity, high volume unit.

Requirements

Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required
Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
ACLS – within 90 days of hire required
CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required
Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required
Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
Maintain a positive, customer-focused attitude toward patients.
Possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism.
Have basic computer skills using medical management application systems.

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred
TNCC or ATCN – within 12 months of hire preferred
Current ICU/PCU experience preferred

Responsibilities

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process: assesses the patient, plans the care of the patient, intervenes as appropriate, evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.
Incorporates age-specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information.
Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
Delivery of high quality of patient care through nursing education, nursing research and innovations in nursing practice.
