The Surgical Medical Intensive Care Unit at St. Anthony Hospital is a specialized 12-bed ICU with 2:1 ratios. The SMICU plays a crucial role in the recovery and stabilization of critically ill patients recovering from general, thoracic, vascular, orthopedic, plastic and oncological surgeries. SMICU also specializes in the stabilization and treatment of complex medical patients recovering from DKA, post-cardiac arrest, and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).
