About The Position

Baptist Health Princeton Hospital is seeking a Full Time Registered Nurse for the Surgical ICU, working Days. This role provides advanced nursing care for critically ill patients, requiring complex assessments, high-intensity interventions, and continuous monitoring. The nurse will use clinical judgment to respond to rapidly changing patient conditions, operate specialized medical equipment, and provide life-saving interventions during emergencies. Responsibilities include assessing patient needs, developing care plans, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, coordinating care, documenting accurately, and ensuring compliance with standards. The role also emphasizes compassionate, age-appropriate care while upholding patient rights and a therapeutic environment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
  • Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Baptist Health unit/department.
  • Maintains current State of Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license.
  • Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • 1 year experience required unless approved by AVP level or above; New Graduate RNs may be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC are required for certain areas. NRP required for Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Responsibilities

  • Provides advanced nursing care for critically ill patients, including complex assessments, high-intensity interventions, and continuous monitoring.
  • Uses clinical judgment and assessment data to anticipate, prioritize, and respond quickly to rapidly changing patient conditions.
  • Operates and interprets specialized medical equipment and monitors, including cardiac, respiratory, and hemodynamic systems.
  • Responds to emergencies with evidence-based, life-saving interventions and preplanned protocols when physicians are unavailable.
  • Assesses patient needs, develops individualized care plans, evaluates outcomes, and advocates for patients and families.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, serves in leadership or educational roles, and supports unit and hospital goals.
  • Coordinates care, delegates appropriately, documents accurately, and ensures compliance with regulatory and evidence-based standards.
  • Demonstrates compassionate, age-appropriate care while maintaining legal awareness, patient rights, and a therapeutic environment.
